Rob and Taylor nominated to the Australian Kids Choice Awards

From today, kids across Australia can start voting for their favourites in the world of entertainment, as Nickelodeon announces the prestigious nominations for Kids’ Choice Awards 2009 - the biggest event for kids on the planet, which gives kids the power to say who should be honoured with a blimp trophy…and maybe even honoured by slime!

Kid favourites who’ve notched a spot for the title of Fave Movie Star include Twilight heartthrobs Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, who’ll battle it out against the ever popular Zac Efron and Daniel Radcliffe.

Making the grade with kids this year in the Fave Aussie category are Hollywood A-lister Hugh Jackman, the brilliant Bindi Irwin, sassy songstress Jessica Mauboy and perennial favourite Rove, who is also nominated for the Fave TV Star award. He’ll be competing for the TV title against the likes of Shaun Micallef, Andrew G and Natalie Bassingthwaighte.

The girls dominate in the category of Fave International Singer, with Taylor Swift up against Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and P!nk, while the battle of the bands for Fave International Band award will see Black Eyed Peas squaring off against Fall Out Boy, The Jonas Brothers and The Naked Brothers Band. And making a surprise appearance is classic Aussie rock band AC/DC, nominated by kids for Fave Aussie Band, along with Short Stack, The Veronicas and Kisschasy.

Miranda Kerr, Dean Geyer, Margot Robbie and Shaun Diviney from Short Stack all have the very flattering honour of being nominated by kids for Fave Hottie.

Kids will be able to cast their votes for the 16 Kids’ Choice Award categories online from today (Sunday 20 September) at http://www.nickelodeon.com.au as well as through the Foxtel and Austar interactive Red Button application.

Voting closes on Sunday 1st November, and the winners will be announced at the 7th Annual Australian Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards at the Hisense Arena in Melbourne on Friday 13 November. The show will be broadcast as LIVE nationally from 7.00pm on Nickelodeon.
